In textile industry, unwinding is one of the major processes in roll handling operations. Fabrics are unwinded for intermediate operations such as coating, laminating in which they need to sustain constant tension throughout the entire roll diameter. There are, of course, some special operations that need programmable tension control during unwinding. BTU-TECH developed the first unwinder to test its All-In-One Winders. After seeing the performance of this unwinder, a major customer of BTU-TECH asked for more sophisticated unwinders for different glass and carbon fabric operations such as jumbo roll splitting, CNC cutter feeding, quality test rewinding, face in-out rewinding. Within a short time frame, BTU-TECH has recently delivered unwinder solutions such as center/surface driven, dancer/loadcell tension control, speed/torque control, ultrasonic/laser/wheel diameter measurement and edge tracking capability.
