Laying different lenghts and composition of glass fabrics to a wind blade mould is a time consuming and error prone process. A crane has to find the necessary roll from a carousel, take it, lay it on the mould and release the empty shaft for the next fabric. However, rolling all the fabrics initially to a single bobbin with the correct laying order and letting the crane lay entire row with a single pass is extremely beneficial. But, the critical question is how to wind different fabrics to a single bobbin without mechanically bonding them. BTU-TECH developed a system for “LM Wind Power” and the machine is capable of operating without any operators. The system gets the input from a fabric list, selects the right fabric, unwinds it to certain length, either straight or chamfer cuts, and rewinds to a single bobbin. The modular system allows to increase the number of feeded fabric types.
