BTU-TECH now offers, “Fabric Edge Tracking System”

For certain purposes, fabric processing requires rewinding of the rolls to process it and rewind again. During these operations, fabric edge may get misaligned, creating in a terrible telescoping effect on the final roll. In case of composite reinforcements,it is really hard to detect glass and carbon fabric edges as glass is extremely reflective and the carbon roving is absorptive which makes selecting the right sensor for both operations very difficult. Also, fabric edges have fringes which false triggers the edge of the fabric. All these problems makes fabric edge detection, a challenge in technical textile industry. BTU-TECH delivers a system that can detect glass and carbon edges filtering out the unwanted fringes, even at very high speeds without using reflectors. So, the distance of the sensor to the fabric or the position of the sensor does not effect the operation. Thus, if the fabric tension changes, the edge position is still detected correct. Then, the position information is sent to a motorized system which moves the machine sideways on rails to track fabric edge. The developed systems was delivered with all the winders, unwinders, online slitting systems and short roll winders as a full package to 3 different locations of the global technical fabric manufacturer.
